We had a casual and restful Sunday today at the farm. Though there is always a lot that needs to be done, sometimes it is nice to just have a low-key day to regroup and recoup. The weather was gray and a bit damp. We had the Wonder Dogs Flo and Franklin join us at the farm after Saturday’s market. The cooler weather had the two rather energized, so here are some photos from our 3 walks around the pasture.
The seed heads on the grasses were so pretty this morning. They gave the pasture a purple hue. Up close, they were shimmery with drops of water clinging to all plant surfaces.
In this photo, it shows the section where I worked yesterday afternoon to position hoops and row covers for fall transplants. Unfortunately, the rain picked up yesterday so I wasn’t able to plant anything…and I took today off. Maybe this week. Cabbages, broccolis, kohlrabi, Brussels sprouts and cauliflower transplants are ready. In the foreground (left of shed) are rows of celery (experiment…they look good at the moment) and carrots.
This view shows the other side (to right of the shed) where the artichokes, black-eyed peas and corn are. Beyond that are all our rows of beans. The tomatoes cannot be viewed beyond the corn….but that is ok because they look pretty horrid.
